Dr Christiaan Oosthuizen of TUT’s Department Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering and Fellow Prof Barend van Wyk, DVC for Teaching, Learning and Technology at TUT submitted a 5 minute video Sustainable automotive technologies: a TUT case study to SAAE for entry in the 2025 CAETS Communication Competition and after being selected by SAAE as the national winner, it was submitted to CAETS for the international competition. On 10 September it was announced that their video was the winner. SAAE is very proud of this achievement. Last year SAAE’s entry, proSET’s STEMulator, was honourably mentioned. This year TUT’s video competed with nine other entries from the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, China, India, Mexico, Netherlands, Poland and Uruguay and came out the winner. The prize covers the registration fee to the annual conference as well as travel and accommodation costs (up to $5000 USD) in addition to a $5000 USD monetary award.
