The Australian Academy of Technological Sciences & Engineering (ATSE) hosted the 2025 annual conference of the Council of Academies of Engineering and Technological Sciences (CAETS) from 8 to 11 September in the Hotel Sofitel in Brisbane, Australia . CAETS is an independent international organisation of engineering and technological sciences Academies.
The theme of CAETS 2025 was Generations and it focused on shaping a sustainable future over the next 50 years through science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). At this event representatives from the 31 global CAETS Academies, gathered to reflect on past achievements, assess current challenges, and envision future innovations. It brought together exceptional leaders in technology, engineering and applied science from around the world.
Apart from presentations by high-profile international speakers, plenary sessions where key issues were addressed, networking opportunities and site visits, SAAE’s three representatives attended meetings of the CAETS Working Groups for Communication, Diversity and Inclusion, Energy, Engineering for Sustainability and Education. SAAE President TC Madikane also attended the President’s meeting and the Council Meeting.
