Mr Kadri Nassiep
Mr Kadri Nassiep, the Director of Energy at the City of Cape Town, presented the 2023 Academy Lecture in the New Lecture Theatre at the University of Cape Town on Monday 21 August 2023.
He is the Executive Director of Energy at the City of Cape Town. He holds a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the North-West University and has close to 30 years’ experience in the Energy sector and has played a key role in coordinating energy research in the country to advocate for a greater share of cleaner energy in the country’s energy mix.
Kadri Nassiep’s presentation focused on the plan that Cape Town has put together to become independent of the national grid for its power supply and how they intend to implement the plan. He discussed what steps are being taken, what steps will need to be taken and what the timeframes are.
