On 8 and 9 November 2021 the South African Academy of Engineering (SAAE) presented a symposium on the Engineering Considerations of the Water-Energy-Food Nexus in the SADC region. The symposium was presented in hybrid mode from the auditorium in the Engineering4 building on the Hillcrest campus of the University of Pretoria. The symposium was attended online by persons from all SADC countries and from the UK and China. Recordings of the symposium on 8 and 9 November are available at:

9 November
The aims of the symposium were to provide an opportunity
for members of the engineering professions in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) countries to meet, get to know each other more closely, and to focus ideas on growing and strengthening the institutional arrangements in the engineering professions in these countries; and
for the strategic nexus between water, energy and food to be described with a view to identifying the contributions that the engineering profession must make to ensure sustainability and socio-economic development in the SADC region.
