In 2021 SAAE presented two Academy Lectures. On 12 October SAAE Fellow Prof Saurabh Sinha, Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Research and Internationalisation at the University of Johannesburg, presented the   lecture “A paradigm shift in higher education in the context of the fourth Industrial Revolution” with the technical support of the Library of the University of Johannesburg.  On 26 October 2021 Prof Richard Walls of the University of Stellenbosch presented the lecture “As Africa burns… can we engineer a safer future?”  Prof Walls   is the head of the Fire Engineering Research Unit at Stellenbosch University (FireSUN).
